Harris Episode Cover Art

In our first installment in the second season of Slow Agency, we are chatting with the founder and editor-in-chief of WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship and the CWCAB blog. Muriel Harris, or as we affectionately call her ‘Mickey’, is the brains and heart behind the journal and the blog. We are excited to have Mickey tell us about the beginnings of the blog and where she sees the writing center field evolving and internationalizing. We hope you’ll enjoy it!

Wonderful podcast. Very good point about the different needs of native speakers of English and non-native speaker. Muriel helped me when I was starting writing centers in Namibia and Chile. I’m retired now but planning to volunteer with Afghan refugees. –Marna Broekhoff

The “Slow Agency” Podcast

This 36-episode podcast brings researchers at the intersection of writing centers and writing studies to help you intentionally consider and address issues affecting your work in the writing center.

Created and hosted by Esther R. Namubiru, Anna S. Habib, and Weijia Li, the goal of this podcast was to open up time and space in this productivity-saturated culture to slow down and dialogue with leading thinkers and practitioners in writing studies worldwide. The title of the podcast is inspired by Micciche, L. (2011) For slow agency. Journal of the Council of Writing Program Administrators, 35 (1), 73-90. Our inaugural episode features WLN’s journal editors whose wisdom and hard work make this journal and the blog possible.
