As we approach the end of our spring semester here on the East Coast of the United States, we feel a big sense of relief and accomplishment. We’ve had another fun season working on the blog and collaborating with diverse voices on diverse projects, including colleagues–from scholars, to directors, to tutors– in Colombia, Hong Kong, South Africa, Lebanon, Uganda, and across the U.S.

In March, we had the honor, together with Mickey Harris and Karen Johnson from the WLN journal editorial team, to meet with members of the MENAWCA (Middle East North African Writing Center Alliance). We spoke about the publication trends across the journal and blog and emphasized how valuable it would be for us as blog and journal editors to hear from those of you working in the MENA region. We are also pleased to share Season 3 of our podcast series, Slow Agency, where you can hear from Brian McTague and Joe Essid, Noreen Lape, and Susan Lawrence and Terry Zawacki about writing center praxis. We’d also like to invite you to take a look at and interact with the blog’s newest feature, Dear CWCAB, an ongoing advice column guest-authored by Dr. Stacia Moroski-Rigney. Our vision and hope is to make this series more interactive where we get to hear directly from our subscribers with your questions and comments. In this piece, Todd Campbell shared communal writing initiatives that has been happening in the AUB writing center: "Whether joining our writing series from Beirut or abroad, many who write with us do so often, vocally appreciative of the shared time and space for writing together online. And just as often, faithful weekly attendees and first timers alike find their way to vibrant, essential writing which brings to vivid life their experience, even when challenged with loss and grief".

Founded in 1866, AUB is a teaching-centered research university chartered in New York with its campus in Beirut, Lebanon. While AUB operates in the English language as aforementioned, the tutoring sessions run in both Arabic and English languages.

The Slow Agency Podcast
|
Created and hosted by your CWCAB editors, the goal of this podcast is to open up time and space in this productivity-saturated culture to slow down and dialogue with leading thinkers and practitioners in writing studies worldwide. The title of the podcast is inspired by Laura Micciche's 2011 article titled For Slow Agency.

Our theme for Season 3 is conversations around books and/or edited collections, featuring Brian McTague and Joe Essid, Noreen Lape, and Susan Lawrence and Terry Zawacki.

Dear CWCAB is a new feature that provides answers and updates to perennially asked questions. Our guest author, Dr. Stacia Moroski-Rigney, will search WCenter archives, journal articles, and Facebook groups and reach out to “experts” to give brief answers and provide further resources. We look forward to the blog becoming a clearinghouse, centralizing a curated list of answers and resources for new WC administrators and for those starting new projects.

In May's Rewind & Reset, we present you "Making Assignment Prompts More Effective: Can Writing Center Tutors Help?" from WLN May/June 2020 Issue. The co-authors, Erin Zimmerman and Emma Moghabghab, shared with us two WAC/WID projects: one focused on training tutors in preparation for collaboration with instructors, and the other in which tutors and instructors collaborated on revising assignment prompts.

Thankfully, my perfectionism has slowly begun to transition with my journey to become a Writing Coach. After 19 years of perfectionism that leads to disappointment and self-degradation, being enrolled in the training course for new writing coaches at Virginia Tech has been a breath of fresh air.
