Summer 2020 Newsletter Issue

Editor's Note

Dear CWCAB friends,

2020 is turning out to be a monumental year with unprecedented changes in our professional and personal lives. Whether you are planning to or have already moved your writing center online or you are still adapting to remote tutoring and social distancing, we're here for you! At CWCAB, we want to ensure that you stay up-to-speed with the conversation happening in our global writing center community and can connect with other tutors, writing center professionals, and writers.

Our newsletter is a digest of some of the contributions that our writing center colleagues from around the world have shared on our CWCAB blog. For this summer issue, we bring you writing center spotlights from Lebanon, Kenya, and Turkey, writing center wellness and research to share with your tutors, and videos from Ben Rafoth, Ron Maxwell, and Jamilla Lyiscott to use in your training and discussions on tutoring practices.

Thanks to all of our contributors to the blog this past Spring, especially to Dr. Genie Giamo (Middlebury College) and Yanar Hashlamon (Ohio State University), Anita Moutchoyan (Hagiazian University), Brenda Wambua (DayStar University), Jeff Gibbs and Stephen Freer (Hisar School), and Dr. Lucie Moussu (University of Alberta).

Happy Reading,
-Anna & Esther

They are the guest editors of WLN’s January /February 2020 Special Issue on wellness and care-work in writing centers.

WLN: Since our last interview with Genie in April 2018, the world has changed considerably… we have all become a lot more aware of how fragile our status quo really is and how much we all take for granted. We thought we’d jump right in with a question that we feel gets right to the heart of the matter.
